Research
While my work has always focused on research, this project allowed me to explore with new materials and processes that helped me develop my methodology and practice how to present the project once complete.
Throughout that summer, I read, “The Death and Life of Great American Cities,” by Jane Jacobs, “Gangsters of Capitalism,” by Jonathan Katz and “Confessions of a Recovering Engineer,” by Charles Marohn.
I had a lot of breakthroughs that summer. I allowed my paintings space to breathe, to command them to say less and allow the viewer to experience more. My research (the books as well as research papers that are available in the button below) directly contributed to the “Comfort Consumption” series.
